Larissa N. Niec is a clinical child psychologist. After graduating from Grinnell College with a bachelor's degree in psychology, Larissa moved to Cleveland, learned to knit, and entered a doctoral program in clinical psychology at Case Western Reserve University. As she completed her post-doctoral training at the Center on Child Abuse and Neglect at the University of Oklahoma Health Services Center, writing fiction became an outlet to manage the emotional challenges of working with traumatized children.
Larissa is a professor at Central Michigan University, where she teaches, conducts research, and runs a clinic for young children with emotional and behavioral problems. The children she works with are often labeled by adults as "out of control", "hyperactive", and "problem children". She has a number of non-fiction publications in the areas of child behavior problems and child maltreatment.
